Howto preview PSD file format in Windows Explorer

Date: 2008-01-24

Previewing thumbnails in Windows Explorer is nothing new but when it comes to preview other formats like jpg, gif, png etc. can be sometimes real pain.
Luckily some smart people has find a way around this with some minor hacks.

1. Download psicon.dll from DLL Dump
2. Place the DLL in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Shell\
3. Thumbnail previews of PSD files will now work

Note! this hack will only work with Adobe CS2 .psd files

I wish I could express how grateful I am to live in time when so much of people's small acts of generosity are available to so many. Thank you so much for taking the time to post this. How great that I can have a thought (e.g. "I wish I could preview my damn PSDs in Explorer"), Google it and then have an answer (and a solution) within minutes, thanks to random folks who are thinking about more than just themselves.
